The Green Card Backlog
Because of per-country restrictions, the process of obtaining a green card is especially difficult for Indian immigrants. For employment-based green cards, some applicants must wait more than 50 years. Because of these backlogs, New Jersey immigration attorney Sunita Sharma frequently sees clients in dire circumstances. “There are a lot of stories I come across,” she said.
