Bombay High Court has stayed the release of Annu Kapoor’s film ‘Hamare Barah’ for a week. The court has taken this decision after a petitioner had objected to some dialogues shown in the trailer of the film.
Annu Kapoor’s film ‘Hamare Barah’ seems to be in trouble. Now the release date of his film has been postponed. This film was to be released on June 7, but the Bombay High Court has stayed its release till June 14. Actually, the vacation bench of Justices Nitin Borkar and Kamal Khata heard the petition of Azhar Tambol, in which objection was raised to some dialogues shown in the trailer of the film on social media.
CBFC has no control over the trailer
In this case, the Central Bureau of Film Certification (CBFC) told the bench that it issues certificate to the film and it has no control over the trailer of the film released on YouTube. Let us tell you that in the petition, the filmmakers objected to the two trailers aired on YouTube, saying that it has hurt their sentiments.
Few scenes have also been removed from the film
Advait Sethna, on behalf of CBFC, said that the film has been examined at several levels by an eight-member committee. Some amendments were suggested by the committee, which have been followed. Sethna said that it was only after the changes that the film was issued a U/A certificate. To the court’s question about objections to some dialogues in the film, Sethna said that the filmmakers have removed them.
On this the bench asked that if CBFC has removed the dialogues, then how did the petitioner see them? On what basis are you saying that these dialogues have been removed? On this, Sethna said that CBFC has no control over the trailers released on the internet. He pointed out that the subsequent trailer released on the ticket booking app did not contain those dialogues.
Release Date Postponed
After hearing the petition, the court postponed the release of the film by a week and asked CBFC to file its reply. The High Court has fixed June 10 for hearing on the petition. Let us tell you that the producers and crew of the film had lodged a complaint at the Versova Police Station on May 24 that they were receiving constant death and rape threats from unknown persons through social media.
